It Ain’t Easy To Become Pregnant …. for some…

In Asia, especially in Malaysia, a married couple would surely wanted to have children of their own. And for most, they would want to have babies as soon as they could, meaning in a year period after they officially gets married. Only a small percentage of married couple avoids to have their first child a.s.a.p and taking many preventives measures. This might due to the economical factors, work commitments , age, health and mental readiness in raising a kid.

As for those couples who really wanted to have their first baby a.s.a.p, most of them will easily achieved their wish without need to undergone any special processes nor taking special supplement. What they need to do is just sex and 9 months later, they will have their babies.

But there are certain percentage of couples that had been trying and trying to have babies but they can’t. When a couple decided to have a baby, there will be no preventive measures taken and every month they would eagerly wait for the good news. But when this waiting period ‘pro-longing’ from months to a year and years, then something started to alarming. Automatically the couple would start to get worried.

Based on my true life experience, I would like to share my experience to all, especially to couples who had been trying very hard in having a baby.

From the first day that I got married with my wife, we straightly decided to have our first child. We even had choosen a name for our baby before we got married. A year past by and my wife still haven’t shows any signs of pregnancy. Yes, I had to admit that my wife is having problems with her monthly period whereby she had irregular period cycle that sometimes hard for us to determined whether she’s pregnant or not. The only way to solves this is when she failed, we will use the Pregnancy Test Kit (Urine) to test whether she is pregnant or it’s just the regular false alarm.

A couple of months after we get married, 2 of her sisters also got married. And both became pregnant immediately and they have their child in a period of one year. We’re happy for them but internally, this causing uneasy feelings and pressure to us as we’re the one who get married first, but they succeeded us in having babies.

On the 2nd year, after 2 months she did not had her menstrual cycle (I also did not buy the Pregnancy Test Kit due to frequents false alarm), she had a very painful stomach pain and started bleeding. As she was almost fainting, I brought her to a Private Hospital and it’s confirmed that she was having a miscarriage. I felt very sad as I did not even knew that she’s pregnant. But according to the doctor, it’s just a month old and there shall be no complication whatsoever to my wife. A year after this incident, we still haven’t got a baby and it’s very pressuring to us mentally especially to my wife. Then again, she had a miscarriage (also without noticing of her pregnancy) in towards the 4th year of our anniversary.

After 4 years of failure to have at least a baby, we had looked into this matter seriously and we started to see an O&G Consultant. She did a few test on my wife also she asked for my sperm sample. She was mentioning that by the X-Ray result (my wife), she found some cervix related issues and want us to come for a follow up treatment. My wife really get worried and depressed. Even she’s became afraid to seek treatment again. So, we ended up by not seeing any specialist anymore.

As for our 5th year, relatives and friends started to burdening our pressure by asking sensitive questions to myself and my wife. “how long has you been married?” “how many child do you have?” “why can’t you have a baby?” “have you gone to see a doctor to know why you cannot get pregnant?” Some even straightly put it on my face as “you are weak, that’s why you can’t have a baby” “you do not know how to shoot”, I knew that they’re trying to cheer-up the situation but deep inside me, I felt really hurt and depressed. At this stage, we almost adopt a child after a recommendation from one of my assistant but we did not proceed with the adoption process when a few close family members advised us not to.

Then, after being silenced for 5 years, my mother-in-law seriously asked us on what happened. Surprisingly, she strictly said to my wife to get a treatment whether Professionally or Traditionally. She scold my wife to being afraid to treatment and medicine. But I knew that is the only motivation words/approached from her mom to make my wife tune back her mind in looking for treatment.

The day after, we went to a Traditional Medicine Partitioner in Langkawi, Kedah Darul Aman and seeks his advised. What he did was that he threw us a few questions and asked us to come back to his place in a day time. So what he did was, by judging from our answers, he will go into the woods and looks for traditional herbs and roots.

We came back the next day and before he handed to us the traditional medicine, he asked my wife to eat a ‘piper betle’ leave on the spot and gave her another 2 ‘piper betle’ for her to consume scheduled 1 leave per day. After that, he handed over the traditional medicines consisting of herbs and wild forest roots. He asked us to boiled the medicines and my wife need to drink it daily. But it must be boiled strictly by using a clay pot. After meeting him, we straightly went to look for a clay pot and bought it back with us.

Without failed, my wife consumed the ‘piper betle ‘ for the next 2 days and drink the traditional medicine daily. And of course we had our sex as normal. Before the medicines was about to finished (+/-1 month), my wife started to have a symptom of a pregnant lady, drowsiness and had the intention of vomiting. I straightly bought the Pregnancy Test Kit and the result was positive. I still haven’t satisfied with the result and brought with my wife to see an O&G Specialist and it’s confirmed that my wife was pregnant. Only God knows how happy we were and I started to called my parents, her parents and relatives to deliver this good news. Once she got pregnant, she stopped taking the traditional herbs and roots as being told by the Traditional Medicines Practitioner.

I had never failed to bring my wife to her monthly check-up with the O&G Specialist, Dr. Fong Pok San from Mahkota Medical Centre. Then, we had our first baby (a girl) after 6 years of waiting and I am very thankful to God. I went back to Langkawi with our baby to see the Traditional Medicine Practitioner and gave him some sincere tokens for his efforts in helping us in getting a baby. He was just happy to see our baby and he did not give anymore medicine to us during this visit. Almost 2 years later, we had our 2nd child (a boy) and now we have a couple of beautiful kids that we always love and they really cheer-up our live. My eldest is now 5 years old and my 2nd is 4 years old. We are now looking forward to have our 3rd child.

To those couples who are facing the same problem as we did, be patient, do not loose hope and try both professional and traditional solutions. If you had been trying for 1 to 3 years to have a baby and still haven’t succeed, do not give up and may my true story will give hopes and motivations.

Cheers.

I Just Want My Right, Air Asia.

I am organizing a trip consisting of 29 persons to Kuching started on this coming 30th and back on the 3rd of May 2008. For this trip, I choose Air Asia flight from LCCT to Kuching. To booked the flight tickets for a group more than 9 pax, we need to call their Group Booking Helpdesk in order for us to purchase the tickets.

As usual, the number that we need to dial to talk to the helpdesk is always busy. Meant that once connected it will take us around 10 to 15 minutes of waiting, hearing those songs plus promotions announces over and over before a staff of Air Asia attended our call. I don’t mind of it although its kinda irritating and the cost of that call will be bared by myself. This is somethings that Air Asia should look into seriously to enhance their service level.

I did my transaction and successfully managed to booked tickets to and fro without any problem. Before confirming my booking, I need to pay the deposit via my credit card and later the person in charge from Air Asia will call me up again to remind me on my 2nd payment before proceeding with the final payment.

I did my 2nd payment a week after the booking. And last couple of weeks, I did my final payment accordingly. Before I made my final payment, the representative from Air Asia called me up and mentioning about the amount that I need to pay.

Once I did my final payment, I photo stated the deposit slip and faxed it to Air Asia office. Then I received a call from Air Asia and confirmed that my payment has been successfully transacted. Now, the problem started when the Air Asia representative mentioned that I had over-paid Air Asia by RM600.00. Myself and the Air Asia staff again recalculated our total cost and yes, it’s confirmed that I had over-paid them. But why Air Asia gave me the wrong figure in the first place?

I asked her what can I do about this? How can I get back my RM600.00 and when can I get it back? I also told her that the money is a group money meant for our trip and I need that back to cover our ground arrangement cost in Kuching. The Air Asia representative advised me to go to the bank that I had just deposited the payment and stop the transaction and re-deposit the right amount again. I went to the bank but unluckily the Bank Officer explained in a proper manner that once we had made a cash deposit successfully, it can’t be ‘undo’ as this is the procedure made by Bank Negara Malaysia. He asked me to call back Air Asia as Air Asia is now holding my money and they are the one that only can deposit back the money to my account.

Again, I called up Air Asia and spoke to the same Sales Representative but she said that she really would like to help but Air Asia policies stated that if guest had made an over-paid sum to Air Asia, the guest only can exchange it to another additional flight tickets and will not get back the sum in cash. She asked me to allocate some destinations that I wish to go in the future plus dates and made the booking. She said that my claim (of my own money) will only valid in within 3 months period, so I need to book the tickets within these 3 months time.

I don’t think that it is fair to myself and policies also seems not to be faired to consumers. I did not cancel my flight tickets neither reducing the number of pax of my group. I had paid as booked but only I had over deposited the RM. Why can’t I get back my money? Why I need to exchange that with flight tickets? Yes, I did a mistake of over-paying RM to Air Asia but partly the mistake also caused by Air Asia. Why I am being forced to buy additional tickets (although openly I can choose any ticket to any destination) when I don’t need that in the first place? I am concerned about the cash is because the cash is a group cash, not mine. And I am totally disagree with the statement that Air Asia cannot refund any over-paid amount in cash back to their guest.

I hope Air Asia, as a leader in the Low Cost Carrier business will look into this matter seriously and if there is such a policies, please revised it for the sake of their clients and guest.

Should I lodge this complaint to some Consumer Organization here in Malaysia just to get my RM600.00 back? I don’t know, I have another 2 months to select my next ‘forced’ destination …

Sony Alpha 200

Previously, I had wrote about getting a DSLR Camera and I am very intend in owning the Sony Alpha 200 DSLR. Well, now I did. Bought the camera at Packard Photo in Melaka. It comes with a 18-70 lens, Memory Card (1GB), LCD Cover and a bag (supposed to get the tripod but I insisted for a bag).

After owning the DSLR, I am now in the stage of learning using this entry-level DSLR camera. Its kinda hard at the beginning, as I need to know all the function of each button and options available.

A few weeks after I bought the A-200, Sony released the A-350. Slightly expensive but very interesting especially with the Live View function available. I kinda wanna change the model, upgrade to A-350 but after thinking for while, let’s learn the basic first and when I am ready for the next level maybe I would straightly buy the A-700 in a year time. Live View is cool but not that very important huh? Hehehe…

Now, I am looking for lenses. The basic SAL1870 lens is not enough. I need at least 2 more lenses to fulfill my needs of taking Macro and Long Zooming picture.

I am proud to own an Alpha !!!

Palm Oil Estate Vs Natural Rainforest

Malaysia is the world no.1 producer for palm oil and Oil Palm estates are everywhere in this country. As a Malaysian, I am very proud of this fact.

Recently, I had heard that by planting Oil Palm trees (of course we need to clear out the rainforest), it will have some serious impact to the environment especially related to CO2 and O2. From what I know, basically, rainforest produces oxygen naturally and for sure Oil Palm trees also produces oxygen(photosynthesis), am I right? I don’t see why there is something wrong of replacing the rainforest with oil palm trees.

If there are some good explanation on this, I would really like to know and I bet all Malaysian also would like to know about it even. We do not want to be marked as the ’spoiler’ of our greenhouse as a whole.

Hopefully, someone would sincerely enough to explain about this. Environmentalist? NGOs representative? Oil Palm Organization? Greenpeace spoke-representative?

I Am Karatenomichi

I am now registered as a KWF member practicing Shotokan style of karate. Am I still a Seibukan? Yes, I am still a Seibukan member even, meant that I am now a student of 2 genre and need to work hard on both style.

Why don’t I just stick to Seibukan alone? Well, this is a part that I am kinda in-dilemma to elaborate. I love Seibukan especially the way of traditional Okinawa karate being designed and taught but there are a few major reasons that made me joined KWF.

I am not going to reveal that as for now, my main focus will be that I will learn 2 different ways of karates and go as far as I could in Karate in both streams.

And I guess that my Sensei (Seibukan & KWF) knew why I am now involves in both Seibukan & Shotokan. And I would like to thanks him very much for the understanding.

Summerset Resort, Rompin, Pahang

While having a 2 days task in Muadzam Shah, Pahang, I had the opportunity of staying in this resort which is situated 57km away from Muadzam Shah. I don’t even know why the organizer choose this resort as I guess that there are no well-established hotel available in Muadzam town area. Everyday I need to drive +/- 2 hours to and fro.

Well, let’s talk about the resort. A day before I checked in into the resort ( 31 March 2008 ), I did a quick surveyed of the resort via their webpage. I wanted to know the exact location of the resort (as I need to drive to the location for the first time) and I also looking for some infos on what activities that the resort can offer to myself within that 2 days period. The webpage looks very impressive even, congratulations to the developer of the webpage. Stunning interactive multimedia presentation and offering lots of infos. By looking at the webpage, I was eager to visit the resort and planned some activities that I wanted to do.

To go to Rompin, Pahang from Melaka, firstly I need to drive to the Muadzam’s highway. From Melaka, I drove to Tangkak and Segamat before headed out to Muadzam’s Highway. Tangkak – Segamat road is a ‘pressuring’ road as it is not a straight road. If a heavy vehicle is in front of us, then we will have the difficulty to overtake as the layout of the road is 90% covered with cornering / bending. And the chances of driving only 50 km/h is high as lots of lorries are using this road especially lorries that transporting products that related to Palm Oil.

Muadzam to Rompin will take about another 40 minutes to 1 hour drive and the road is a very convenient straight road with less traffic. I reached Summerset Resort somewhere at 5pm and went straight to the lobby for checking in purposes. The main building of the resort is huge with colonial architecture style design. As it is huge, the gap between floor and ceiling are very wide. I can see that the housekeeping department is having a problem with their high-dusting task. Lots of visible cob-webs can be seen everywhere all over the high ceiling. It was not a good first impression to guest.

The room that I took cost about RM250 ++ per nite with breakfast. The interior design of the room is okay, standard design for a hotel as I expected the interior will be designed more towards the colonial concept. The bathroom/toilet is clean. Air-condition facility is well function. 1 pillow being assigned and put on a single bed but as I was looking for a 2nd pillow (which usually in most of the resort/hotel will be placed inside the main closet), it was not available. On the 2nd day, after the housekeeping team did their services, they did not even top-up the tea/coffee/sugar. Is it only a 1 time complementary?

As a muslim, we need to performs our prayers and there is no indicator of Qiblat inside the room and we need to call up the reception counter to ask about the Qiblat direction. Usually in most of hotels/resorts, the Qiblat indicator will be available on the ceiling (there will be a proper arrow mark) but in this hotel, the Qiblat sign was being placed/glued inside a drawer of the main make-up table.

I did asked my colleague to bring over a couple of tennis racket as in was stated in the webpage that one of the facilities available here is a tennis court. Unlucky for us, the tennis court has been converted to become a Futsal field.

Most of the facilities are not in a well maintained conditioned and needs lots of improvement.

How about the food? Well, what I can say is that the food is just okay. Not something that is deliciously different in both taste and presentation. The front liner of the service team (waiter/waitress/captain etc.), are not doing / giving their best service to the guest as when I asked for a ‘match’ / ‘lighter’, they were looking for it at one of their service counter and came back to me with a ‘NO’ answer. Is it very difficult to find a ‘match’ for a guest?

The only good about this resort is the scenery that its can offered as it was situated inside a beautiful natural landscape compound. A few natural lake/pond available here offerings great view. Also the Security Guard here is very friendly and acted like a Guest Relation/Public Relation Officer to all the guest. I highly salute the Security Guard Department for this.

Overall, I will rate this resort 2.0/5.0. For the resort management, please improve the services and facilities as what that can be seen on the webpage. I bet that if the resort is identical as claimed via the webpage, this resort will become one of best resort available here in Pahang / even Malaysia.

I did managed to snapped some good photos here as below :-
