Last Saturday while driving to meet a customer, I’d received a call from my wife hometown in Jitra, Kedah delivering such a sad news to us here in Melaka that my wife’s grandmother had passed away.
It was hard for me to tell my wife upon this news but without delaying I told her in the best way that I could. She’s hysterical upon this news as she’s the closest person among the family with her grandmother. Her grandma took care of her since she was 2 weeks old up until 16 years old before she live with her parents again. I can say that her grandma was her mother even.
Right after the news, we packed up and started our journey back to Jitra somewhere at 11.50am. I did not drive very fast as I know that we surely can’t reach Jitra before the burial ceremony. Logically, from Melaka to KL will take 2 hours, KL to Penang another 4 hours and Penang to Jitra is to add another 2 hours even, making total hours of traveling will be 8 hours all together. But surprisingly, I reached Ipoh somewhere around 3pm++ and began to speed-up my vehicle as hope to at least having my wife to see & kiss her grandma for the last time emerges. I drove above 140 km/h all the way from Ipoh but only got stuck at 2 points (after Ipoh before entering Changkat Jering & Sg Dua after Juru Toll) due to construction + heavy traffic.
We reached her place somewhere at 6.15pm but it’s too late for us as her grandma had already being buried. I calmed my wife and met my other family members before proceeding back to her late grandma house.
Up until yesterday, my wife still in a sad mood and keeps on crying on and off. I hope that her sadness will subside soon as I do not want the sadness to effect her health indeed.
Al-Fatihah ….
