It might sounds weird but after 7 years settling in Melaka, this was my first visit to Hang Tuah Mausoleum. Hang Tuah is synonym to Melaka and he’s well known for his bravery and loyalty to the Sultan.
This mausoleum is situated in Tanjung Kling area which is just a less than 15 minutes drive from my place in Tanjung Minyak and around 30 minutes drive from Banda Hilir.
While driving to this mausoleum, I knew that this place won’t be that ‘grand’ as the promotion for tourist (both local and foreigner) to visit this place is kinda weak. My visit here ended just in a short time as there was nothing to explore or see here except for Hang Tuah’s Tomb and a few boards mentioning about legends and histories that’s related to Hang Tuah.
My sincere suggestion to the state government, please promote this place and enhance the Mausoleum. Hang Tuah legend is undeniable important to Melaka, the Malays and even Malaysia. Maybe due to the location (this mausoleum is situated inside a Muslim Cemetery), the expansion and enhancement cannot be done or planned. But I am sure, there is a way of making this place as one of the most important tourist spot here in Melaka. Maybe we could look at Mahsuri’s Mausoleum in Langkawi as a sample to follow for the enhancement.
