Sadness

Last Saturday while driving to meet a customer, I’d received a call from my wife hometown in Jitra, Kedah delivering such a sad news to us here in Melaka that my wife’s grandmother had passed away.

It was hard for me to tell my wife upon this news but without delaying I told her in the best way that I could. She’s hysterical upon this news as she’s the closest person among the family with her grandmother. Her grandma took care of her since she was 2 weeks old up until 16 years old before she live with her parents again. I can say that her grandma was her mother even.

Right after the news, we packed up and started our journey back to Jitra somewhere at 11.50am. I did not drive very fast as I know that we surely can’t reach Jitra before the burial ceremony. Logically, from Melaka to KL will take 2 hours, KL to Penang another 4 hours and Penang to Jitra is to add another 2 hours even, making total hours of traveling will be 8 hours all together. But surprisingly, I reached Ipoh somewhere around 3pm++ and began to speed-up my vehicle as hope to at least having my wife to see & kiss her grandma for the last time emerges. I drove above 140 km/h all the way from Ipoh but only got stuck at 2 points (after Ipoh before entering Changkat Jering & Sg Dua after Juru Toll) due to construction + heavy traffic.

We reached her place somewhere at 6.15pm but it’s too late for us as her grandma had already being buried.  I calmed my wife and met my other family members before proceeding back to her late grandma house.

Up until yesterday, my wife still in a sad mood and keeps on crying on and off. I hope that her sadness will subside soon as I do not want the sadness to effect her health indeed.

Al-Fatihah ….

In Memory – My wife late grandmother’s house in Alor Rambai, Jitra, Kedah. I took this photo just before we went back to Melaka.

Safer Sex / Seks Sihat – Info

Do We Need To Practice Safer Sex?

Yes! SAFER SEX protects us from AIDS. HIV can infect anyone, male or female, straight, gay, lesbian or bisexual. You cannot tell who has the virus and who does not. Since you cannot tell, insist on SAFE SEX every time.

SAFER SEX is any sex that doesn’t allow semen, vaginal fluids or blood to get into your partner. HIV can’t get through ordinary, healthy, undamaged skin. The amount of the virus in saliva is too little to cause infection. No-one has been infected through kissing.

SEXUAL INTERCOURSE The main risk of transmitting HIV is through unprotected sexual intercourse. The large amount of HIV in blood and semen can cause infection. During intercourse the virus can get into your body easily through the sensitive linings of the penis, vagina or anus. Even if you pull out before ejaculation, there is still a risk for both partners. So, don’t have sexual intercourse without using a condom. Not even briefly, however tempting it may be.

ORAL SEX There is a slight risk of infection because HIV-infected semen can get into the bloodstream via sensitive linings in the mouth. The risk is higher if your mouth is sore or bleeding. Oral sex without ejaculation in the mouth is safe. You might choose to use condom to avoid getting semen in the mouth.

Talking About Safe Sex?

It’s important to talk to your sexual partner about SAFER SEX. At first, this may be difficult or embarrassing. Be honest and make sure that your partner is willing to play safe and respect your limits.

Carrying a condom make sense. It’s okay to plan ahead for sex – it means you’re a responsible person.

Knowing which techniques are safe and which are not doesn’t mean you won’t be tempted to do something unsafe. Awkwardness with a condom, being high on alcohol, being in a holiday mood, being sad or in love, can tempt you to do something unsafe.

If you do have UNSAFE sex, ask yourself “Why?” Take steps to prevent it from happening again. Be prepared for such situations.

SAFER SEX protects. Lead a healthy, creative and SAFER SEX life.

Tips On Condom Use

bullet

Use condoms of good quality

bullet

Practise putting them on yourself or your partner

bullet

Use water-based lubricant, such as KY. Avoid oil-based ones like Vaseline or moisturising cream as the oil damage the condom

bullet

Put a dab of lubricant into the condom before using for extra sensitivity and easy usage

bullet

Expel air from the condom by pinching it while unrolling it all the way down the penis. Put lots of water-based lubricant on the outside of the condom

bullet

After ejaculating, hold onto the condom and pull out gently while the penis still hard

bullet

Experiment with the range of available condoms. Find a reliable one that suits you.

Perlukah Kita Mengamalkan Seks Yang Selamat?

Ya!

Bagaimana Anda Boleh Berbincang Mengenai Seks Yang Selamat?

SEKS YANG SELAMAT melindungi anda. Amalkan perhubungan seks yang sihat, kreatif and selamat.

Petua Menggunakan Kondom

bullet

Gunakan kondom yang bermutu baik.

bullet

Jika anda tidak biasa mengunakan kondom, berlatihlah. Cubalah sendiri atau dengan pasangan anda.

bullet

Cameron Highland

Recently, I went to visit Cameron Highland which started from 13th to 15 March 2009. Its a great trip indeed.

I rented 6 apartments at Prima Villa Apartment, Tanah Rata. The apartments are all great with 3 bedrooms each. It is just less than 5 minutes walks to the Tanah Rata town. The rate is RM350.00 per nite which I think is very worth it.

As a must for every traveller/tourist to Cameron Highland, I visited the famous Boh Tea Plantation, Cactus Valley, Strawberry Farm and Rose Garden.  I also did not missed the opportunity to visit the market in Brinchang that sells lots of fresh vegetable. It is a must to buy the sweet corn here in Cameron as it taste so sweet even if we eat it raw.

I hope to visit Cameron again this year as I really enjoyed the view and the environment. Surprisingly the tempreture here clocked at 13 Celcius on the 2nd nite. The air is so refreshing and clean indeed.

I also hope to do some birding on my next visit here in Cameron Highland.

June – November 2008 (Highlights)

Some highlight of what I should have posted in my blog from the period of 18th June 2008 up until today, 7th November 2008.

  1. As I was having 2 offices, Melaka & KL, I was very busy travelling around inclusives of handling issues raised in southern states such as Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan. This making me unable to commit myself with my karate classes. But during early of September 2008, I had got a confirmation of no longer to be responsible of KL tasks and its a very relief thing for me even. Nevertheless, I already missed out lots of my classes and I feel guilty of returning to the class just like that. :-( Plus, I didn’t do my practices at all and I think I had forgetten some of the moves.
  2. Been assigned of new challenging task to lead a MIS that will be replacing the one that had been used in 2 months time. (Tasks given in August and need to launch in October) And as for this, it already had been launched. Out of 2 others vendor, our MIS is the most stable and successful. I feel proud about it but really need to improve it even. As to this, during 1st of Syawal which is the day of Eid Mubarak, I did not take leave as others did. In fact, all of my team (IT Staff) were working on that one whole week before and after Eid. With this, I had lost one of my staff who can’t seems to bear with the pressure. I felt pity for him, but he should have not gave up though.
  3. As for photography, I had bought a few lenses and I also had attended some classes plus seminars. I am still trying to improve my skill and knowledge in this area. My brother had joined me in photography where he bought the same brand of camera as mine only on different model. With photography, I also had met some new friends especially those who are actively involves in the Official Sony Alpha Malaysia Forum, the Alphanatics.com
  4. I did posted my trip of visiting Terengganu to perform some survey job and it well paid off. We managed to secured the project and it has started since September 2008. We are now having branches in Kelantan & Terengganu even.
  5. Went back to Langkawi last month after my MIS project settled down and it was a great holiday indeed. Spend most to the days in Langkawi doing photography and visiting nice places.

Will write more though.

It Has Been A While

Yeap, its been a while since my last post on my blog. 18th June was the last date I had posted / updated this blog.

I guess I was too busy though. Yes, I can’t deny that either as these few months seem to be such a challenging months for myself especially in dealing with the new MIS that successfully being launched on the dot of the first Eid Mubarak (1st Oct 2008). It is still not 100% perfect and a few angles need to be tuned up a little bit.

And whenever I got extra time to spare, I had spend it for my family and my new hobby, photography.

I will try to improve in updating my blog especially I felt kind of guilty of not be able to response to queires that had been made by friendly visitors. Some of the queries really need urgent attention and I feel bad of not be able in providing fast advises and help. Forgive me friends.

Thank you.

Gadgets In Mind

Well, as I am really hooked now in photography, there are some accessories that I wish to have in near future. Among them are :-

1. 50mm Lens (to capture good quality portraits photos) with Lens UV Filter
2. 75mm – 300mm Lens (for tele-zooming far objects/wild animal/birds/skodeng) with CPL Filter
3. Battery Grip (plan to have it next month)
4. The famous Minolta 70mm-210mm ‘beercan’ lens. (its kinda hard to find this lens available as I wanted this to be my main lens for general photo taking replacing my 18-70)
5. Another external Flash (I am now owned a Vivitar and wish for a Sony)
6. A Macro lens (any brand either new or 2nd hand)

Well, as for the upgrading of the main body, I think let me get use to the A200 as my first DSLR before I plan to go for upgrading. I need to learn more as my knowledge in this field is still can be considered as ‘crawling stage’.

Just for the sake of writing, if I wanted to upgrade the body, I think I will be having a dilemma in choosing my next model. One thing for sure, I will skip the ‘mid model’ such as A300 and A350. I might go straightly to A700 or any latest higher model, A900 maybe? But I also love to own a Nikon and the D300 seems like a perfect model for me. But this statement does not means that Sony is not good. My A200, although it is an entry level model, it produces many good photos for myself and some shots even produces better quality photos compared to the Nikon D200. Nevertheless, the only set back as for Sony is the limited choices of accessories and the current available accessories pricing are kinda high. So, I might go for a Sony or a Nikon.

Brother Got Married

I would like to congratulates my brother, Dr. Zul Erwan for his wedding with Rina Shukor last month. The wedding was being held at both Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan and at our home in Melaka. As the eldest brother of the siblings I was also kinda busy with the preparations and being automatically to be one of the host for both events.

My brother works as a Veterinary Doctor in Shah Alam, while my sister-in-law is a lecturer at UNISEL. Both of them looks great as a couple and I wanna wish them the best in their life.

Among my friends who had attended the 2nd night event in Shah Alam were Juffree & his family (my best friend since I was 16 yrs old), Chia & Diane (a friendly friend from the Virtual Tourist website) and 5 friends from the Sony Alpha Forum. I would like to thanks my friends for coming to the event that night. Together with the Sony Alpha team members, I was also busy stealling some shots using my Sony DSLR of the event although I was kinda busy being the official usherer of the event.

In Melaka, the event was being held at my parent’s house which is just next to mine. A salute to my Mother and Father in Law who came all the way from Langkawi and giving their helping hands towards the success of the event. Also I would like to thanks Kak Noridah and her family who came all the way from Singapore to attend the event. Kak Noridah is also a friend that I knew from the Virtual Tourist website and as for myself, I look at her as my sister and her husband as my brother. Thank you kak.

As Zul is already married, there are 2 more to go which is my 2 youngest sisters who are still studying. It is not going to be soon but the time will surely come.

Kuching Visit (30th April – 4th May 2008)

As usual, this year would be the 6th times that I had been assigned to designed and lead our company’s trip after Langkawi(2003), Tioman(2004), Redang(2005) , Pangkor(2006) and Penang(2007).

This Kuching’s trip is the most expensive trip that I had ever organized with RM800.00 per person consisting of 29 staff all together. Half of the cost goes to the flight tickets while the other half goes to the ground arrangements cost.

Our flight were supposed to be at 7pm was being re-timed to 9pm. All participant gathered at LCCT at 7pm and after we took our dinner, we did the normal check-in process.

An incident that I think would be the first for Air Asia throughout its operations happened that night involving my group. After boading the aircraft and had chosen my seat, one of my participant reported that there were still 3 staff that was not on the plane. I asked permission from the air stewardess to go back to the ground to look for them and she gaveme the permission. Once myself was on the ground, I saw that something was not right happened just a few feet away from the boarding gate. 3 of my staff were being surrounded by Air Asia crew. I sensed trouble and directly went towards them to makes queries and hopefully to settle any matter arises. The first thing that I did was asking my staff of what had happened and why they were still not boarding the aircraft. One of them mentioned that his Identity Card had accidently dropped in the drain just outside the gate. I looked at the drain and straightly I knew that this would be a trouble matter to be solved. The drain is very narrow and deep. I think it would be less than 10 inches wide and about 2 meters deep. My staff told me that the Air Asia officer won’t let him go into the plane as he will surely not be given the permission to enter Kuching without a proper Idenfication Card. I asked the officer to give us a few minutes chance to try our best to get the ID Card out from the drain. He nodded and then we tried. Almost all of the Air Asia Ground Crew helped us that night. They even provide us with torchlight and long stick to bring the ID Card that can already been seen out. We tried almost more than 10 minutes and it is time for the plane to depart. The officer insisted myself and 2 others staff to board the plane while the staff that had dropped his ID Card to go to nearest Police station to make a lost report, get the report and board a next day flight. I can’t let this thing happened and asked the Officer to talk to the pilot to give us another last 10 minutes to get the ID Card. While the officer walked to the plane to asked the Captain, one of the Air Asia Ground Crew found a way for a human being to get into the drain which is situated almost 30 meters away from where the ID Card dropped. He went in and walk slowly towards the ID Card and at last he managed to get the card and handed it to my staff while he was still inside the drain. We can’t really shakes his hand to appreciate his effort because once we had the card, we were told to get into the plane as soon as possible. Once we walked into the plane, most of the passenger claps their hand towards us. I can’t really judge either the claps were sincerely meant or the other way round. Due to this, the flight that was already 2 hours re-timed being delayed for another 15 minutes. On behalf of the group, I wanted to make an official apologize to all the passenger (AK5214, 30th April 2008), to praise with many thanks to the Captain of that flight and of course to awarded credit to all the Groud Crew that had given us the helping hands to enable my staff to fly to Kuching that night. They had shown the quality of service to do something extraordinary for us the passenger although they can just mighy ignore us and strictly denied my staff to board the plane. A salute to you guys !!!

Well, we reached Kuching and being welcomed by another incident with the Immigration’s Department. Another participant being denied to enter Kuching as she was only bringing an official report of her lost ID Card. I can’t believe this. This report is an official report and receipt from the Registration Department of Malaysia and still she had been denied to enter Kuching. This one officer were very rude in asking and I did not notice even a smile from his face while interogating the matter. I had to beg him a few times to let this participant in before we gave us the green light. He did not have at all the spirit of respecting tourist and with Malaysia aggresively promoting tourism, this attitude may jeapordize the campaign. In fact, we are Malaysian also.

Our host that night was Miss Cornie from the travel agent that we had appointed. A brief intros and greetings from her conducted on the tour coach. We checked into the Kuching Harbor View hotel and straightly went to sleep, might due to the tiredness.

The next day, we did our City Tour (visited Kuching’s Tower, Sarawak’s Vase Factory, Cat Monument and Layered Cake Factory) and in the evening was the free and easy activities. Most of us did our shopping while myself and another 3 staff gathered together and taking the boat ride along the Sarawak River. It cost us RM30.00 for an hour slow cruise. We had our dinner at Saddat Restaurant in the middle of Kuching’s town. They served good halal chinesse style food mixed with local foods as well. The owner is a local muslim while the chef said to be a chinese chef.

Our 3rd day in Kuching, we went to the Sawarak Cultural Village. This is a must visit place if you are here in Kuching. All of us were given a ‘passport’ and every traditional or local tribe’s houses visited, the ‘passport’ will be stamped. The highlight of this visit was the 40 minutes cultural show which really entertained us all. From here, we visited Damai Beach Resort and took some photos here before headed back to Kuching. Of course the evening session would be our free and easy activities and this time it times for myself to shops for a few items/souvenirs to bring back to Melaka.

On the last day, we woke up early to visit the Malaysian-Indonesian border village Serikin. Here we visited the famous Serikin Market and some of us did their shopping here too. As for myself, surprisingly, I didn’t buy anything. :-)

From Serikin, we went back to the hotel and did our check out. After check out, we went to the Kuching Museum and after that to the Satok Wet Market to buy some famous ‘Sarawak Salted Fish’ or local called it as ‘Ikan Terubuk Masin Sarawak’. Here I had a chance to eat the local dishes called ‘mee kolok sapi’ or ‘kolok noodles with beef’ (I guess). It’s very delicious indeed.

From Satok, the tour coach brought us to the airport. I did the checking in process and everything went smoothly. I was afraid of our baggage limit might burst as most of us did a very ‘crazy’ shopping activities but luckily the combined weight were below the limit. The maximum limit per person is 15kg only.

We reached LCC Terminal somewhere at 9pm and I reached home at 11pm around that.

This trip can be considered as a successful trip as I sincerly admit that I did not really spend much time in planning the trip due to my heavy work commitment. This trip also seen the most participant being hospitalized after the event due to high-fever and almost 11 staff took MCs after getting back from the trip. We realized that the weather was not really that good during our trip, very hot and humid.

Next year, our target is either to visit the Cameron Highland in Pahang or Labuan Island in Sabah.
